FORM 4A1 COPS INAUGURAL SCHOOL SONG CONTEST TITLE

Gingerland –Nevis—According to Mrs. Lorna Brandy, Principal of the Gingerland Secondary School, the inaugural school song competition which was held on Thursday 9th June, had two main objectives:

  1. To help the students to learn the song properly and to be more expressive in its rendition
  2. To serve as a bit of an ice breaker, with the students just completing their work up to mark sheet and preparing for examinations which were scheduled to commence the following day.

The various forms were given the green light to present the school song in as creative a manner as possible.

Some used drums; others utilized dancers to enhance the presentation but generally, the renditions were well delivered and received with gusto by their adoring peers in the main auditorium.

The three judges given the task to adjudicate the signature event, were all well know musicians on the local scene:

Antonio ABONATTY Liburd; Brendon Claxton and Wayne Moore.

Obviously, it was no easy task as all of the forms pulled out all of the stops. However, at the end of the presentations the final results seemed to have received general approval:

1st place—4A1-137 points

2nd—4A2—112 points

3rd- 2A1 and 3A2 tied on 109 points

The teachers, not to be outdone, also delivered an outstanding presentation of the school song as well.

Mrs. Brandy indicated that plans are in place to make it an annual affair.
