We must love, treasure, develop and defend our Nation, says PM Harris in New Year’s Address

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 01, 2016 (SKNIS)—Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, has called on all nationals to love, treasure, develop and defend their nation in his 2016 New Year’s Day Address.

“This is our nation to love, to treasure, to develop, and to defend,” Dr. Harris, noting that “this Team Unity Administration assumed office based on prayer and intercession, and upon the faith and courage of countless individuals who have put our Country above partisan politics.”

Prime Minister Harris said that in order for the country to progress, spiritual and moral values must be adhered to.

“We are mindful that we need God’s guidance and protection as we embark on this New Year, and that holding fast to our spiritual and moral values is an imperative for taking us forward and upward,” he said.

He also said that it is his intention to consult with religious leaders in the New Year and that he will consult with the Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs, the Hon Vance Amory, to convene a week of prayer early in this New Year.
