On Wednesday 30th May, members of the champion Leeward Islands masters’ cricket team, Nevis, attended the funeral service of the late Othneal BABA Walters, which was held at the Elliot’s funeral home.
President of the Nevis Masters’ Cricket Association, Franklyn KUT Daniel, explained that Othneal was the brother of team mate and former national player, Cordell Walters and indicated that his team was there to show solidarity with their team mate and his family, in their time of grief.
Also attending the funeral service, was Minister of Sports, Hon. Eric Evelyn, who is incidentally also, the President of the Empire Sports Club.
He stated that he was also showing his support for the family, pointing out that apart from the fact that Cordell was a former national player, Charmaine Walters and Lylith Roberts, sisters of the deceased, both played Cricket at the national level, in the female leagues and are members of the Empire Sports Club
