CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS – Long-serving Head Coach of Bath United Football Club, Alex Claxton, has publicly voiced strong frustration over what he characterises as dismissive and unfair treatment by the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) toward the club’s female team.
The controversy stems from a decision by the SKNFA to deduct six points from the Bath United ladies’ squad during the recently concluded Elvis Star Browne Women’s League after the team was unable to field a side for a scheduled fixture against St. Paul’s.
According to Coach Claxton, management wrote to the association well in advance requesting a match postponement, explaining that several key players were actively participating in official Nevis Culturama Festival events. Despite the advance notice, the SKNFA denied the request and subsequently penalised the club.
Claxton highlighted what he considers a double standard in the association’s scheduling policy, noting that the SKNFA regularly suspends league play to accommodate events like the St. Kitts Music Festival, yet refuses to show similar flexibility for Nevis’ premier cultural festival.
“Bath United has consistently performed and contributed positively to local football, yet we are not accorded the respect the club deserves,” Claxton stated, warning that such dismissive attitudes from governing administrators risk pushing local clubs out of organized competition entirely.
