The SKN Patriots received a reality check on Sunday, suffering a convincing seven-wicket defeat at the hands of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Following their emphatic victory in their previous match, the Patriots struggled to maintain that momentum, managing just 128 runs from their allotted 20 overs after being sent in to bat.
Alick Athanaze was the standout batsman for the Patriots, producing a well-played 52, but the rest of the batting line-up struggled to build partnerships and post a competitive total.
The Warriors’ bowlers were led by Mohammad Nabi, who delivered an outstanding spell, claiming 4 wickets for just 17 runs.
In reply, the Guyana Amazon Warriors made light work of the target, racing to 132 for 3 to secure victory with 7 wickets in hand.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz provided the early impetus with a quick-fire 39, while Shai Hope remained unbeaten on 38 to guide the Warriors across the finish line.
For the Patriots, Bidaisee was the most successful bowler, taking 2 wickets for 20 runs.
The result saw the Guyana Amazon Warriors complete a comfortable seven-wicket victory, bringing the Patriots back down to earth after their impressive performance in their previous outing.
