According to Boddie, “Nationals should not let this scholarship opportunity go to waste. The Chevening Scholarship is one of the world’s most prestigious scholarships for those desirous of studying a Master’s degree in the United Kingdom. It affords successful applicants a fully funded scholarship to pursue a Masters of their choice at any UK University. And, having been a beneficiary of this scholarship, I can attest to the fact that you will receive world class education in the UK and all your expenses are covered, even your flight to and from the UK.”

She further added, “Over the last five years, we have had successful applicants from the Federation each year, and as an alumni group we are proud of this accomplishment and we are certainly eager to see more nationals benefitting from the scholarship scheme and at the same time develop both professionally and personally. On behalf of the group, I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to our 2015 winner Mr. Vondez Phipps, who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Law at the Queen Mary University in London.”

Ms. Boddie also had some exciting news for potential applicants. “We are also excited to share that the UK Prime Minister David Cameron has recently announced that his government would be doubling the number of scholarships offered, which means that at least 14 scholarships would now be offered for our region, and that therefore translates into more opportunities, for more of our people to become winners and earn their Masters for free. November 3rd is no too far away, so nationals please start preparing your applications today.”

The local alumni group leader concluded by noting that interested persons should log onto www.chevening.org to apply, and those desirous of getting advice on completing applications should send her an email to rositaboddie@hotmail.com or approach any other member of the group for assistance.

The Chevening website highlights that the Chevening scholarships is aimed at developing future global leaders, influencers and decision-makers, who would be willing to return to their countries for at least two years after completing their studies, to aid in the development of their countries in their respective areas of study.
