West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for December 2025 following his standout performances in the recent Test series against New Zealand.
Greaves enjoyed a memorable month in New Zealand, amassing an impressive 283 runs at an average of 56.60 across three Tests. His most remarkable effort came in the first Test, where he scored an unbeaten 202 in the fourth innings to save the match and help the West Indies secure a historic draw.
Greaves was not just influential with the bat. The 31-year-old medium pacer also made crucial breakthroughs with the ball, claiming five wickets and underlining his all-round prowess.
The competition for the award is fierce, with Greaves facing strong challenges from New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy and Australia’s left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc.
Duffy was the leading wicket-taker in the home Test series against the West Indies, collecting 23 wickets at an average of 15.43 across three matches as New Zealand secured a 2–0 series victory. His dominant form also saw him become New Zealand’s highest wicket-taker in a calendar year across all formats, with 81 wickets, surpassing Richard Hadlee’s long-standing record of 79 set in 1985.
Starc, meanwhile, was instrumental during the Ashes series in December, taking 16 wickets and scoring 139 runs across three Tests. He earned Player-of-the-Match honors in the second Test, combining a powerful 77 with eight match-winning wickets to steer Australia to victory. Starc continued his impact in the third Test at Adelaide, where his gritty 54 runs and four wickets played a key role in Australia sealing the series win.
