Cricket : Nevis Over 50’s Whip St. Kitts Over 50’s Yet Again

On Sunday 26th December, the Nevis over 50’s team journeyed to St. Kitts to engage their Kittitian counterparts, in a return match in a series of two games.

The Nevis team convincingly won the game last weekend, played at the VOJN grounds and the St. Kitts team was all prepared to give back some of what they received the previous weekend.

The Nevis team went into the game without some of their more decorated players, such as Stuart Williams, Merlin Liburd and Carl Tuckett.

St. Kitts won the toss and batted first and got off to a formidable start with a superb half-century from Charles Morton before he retired and good knocks from Glen Rogers, Stuart Rawlins and Hendrickson.

They got to 135 in their 20 allotted overs.

However, their batting was totally undermined by a fine spell of off-spin bowling from Sterling Marshall, at the back end of the innings, with his four-wicket haul and just failing to pick up a hat trick in the process.

Nevis got off to a rapid start, mainly courtesy of Curtis Morton who played a breezy and chancy hand for a half-century and Curtis Dore who played a cultured knock of 37 not out.

They overhauled the target in 16.2 overs.

Summarized scores: St. Kitts over ’50s: 134 for 7 in 20 overs: Charles Morton 56 retired; Stuart Rawlins 22; Glen Rogers 21; A. Hendrickson 18
