Seven young cricketers from Nevis were given a rousing send-off on the morning of Wednesday, March 18, as they departed from the Oualie Pier to begin their regional journey.
The players who have been selected to the Leeward Islands Under-15 Cricket Team are Karese Farrell, Nicholas Hero, Aedan Williams, De’Morae Prentice, Deshawn James, Kamari France, and Ryan Marchand.
Offering words of encouragement, Director of Sports Aljay Newton praised the players’ commitment and preparation, noting that he has closely followed their development and believes they are ready to perform at the next level. He extended best wishes for success during the upcoming campaign.
President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Carlisle Powell, expressed confidence in the group, stating that all seven players have the ability to secure spots in the final squad. He also commended Coach Stuart Williams for his strategic decision to enter the Under-16 team into local competition as a unit, highlighting their strong performance, having won three of their first four matches.
Powell encouraged the players to excel both on and off the field, reminding them that discipline and character are just as important as performance.
The players will first participate in a training camp in Antigua and Barbuda, where the final team will be selected. Those chosen will then travel on to Jamaica for the regional Under-15 tournament.
