Cricket: The coaching staff of the SKN Patriots

On Thursday 29th August, a very important training session took place at the ET Willet Park.
On that day, prior to the much anticipated matchup between the St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots and the Premier’s X1, the coaching staff of the SKN Patriots, took time out to work through the basics of the game of Cricket, with the assembly of Kiddies cricketers, being trained under the Cricket West Indies initiative.

Cricket Coordinator on Nevis, Carl Tuckett, explained in an interview with Ramie Gumbs of the Communications Unit, within the Ministry of Community Development, that Director of Sports, Jamir Claxton, had reached out to the management of the SKN Patriots, with the suggestion that while the team was coming over for the now annual warm up match versus the Premier’s X1, they could kill two birds with one stone and have their coaching staff do some work with the young cricketers on Nevis.

Tuckett further explained that last year, the under 15 cricketers benefitted from the exercise; this year it was the Kiddies cricketers (12 and under) and next year, it would be the under 19 cricketers.
The youngsters were put through basic cricket drills, under the close watch of SKN Patriots’ Technical Director, Robin Singh, Coach Peterson and Assistant Coach, Stuart Williams.

Tuckett used the opportunity to thank the management of the SKN Patriots, Cricket West Indies; Department of Sports; The Nevis Island Administration and local coaches, Derrick Parry, Livingstone Lawrence, Everette Sargeant and Tonito Willet.
