GEORGETOWN, GUYANA — CARICOM Secretary-General, Her Excellency Dr Carla Barnett, continues to champion the power of South-South cooperation and partnerships among Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Speaking at the Ninth Meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, held in Santiago, Chile, from April 13 to 16, Dr Barnett highlighted how CARICOM Member States are advancing the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for Small Island Developing States (ABAS) through bold, regionally driven solutions.
These include knowledge sharing, technical cooperation and training hubs; collective climate resilience and disaster response networks; economic integration and innovation; and stronger governance and institutions.
“The message is clear: when small states collaborate, they create big impact,” said Dr. Barnett.
