The second edition of the Odd Events Challenge Series took place earlier, showcasing some of the federation’s brightest young talents in track and field.
Meanwhile, here’s a quick recap of last weekend’s meet, held on Saturday, November 1st, marking the official start of the 2025–2026 athletics season.
There were early flashes of brilliance on the track:
DeCheynelle Thomas impressed with a commanding victory in the 600m, clocking 1:43.40, ahead of rising star Trishana O’Donahue in 1:53.72. Thomas later completed a stellar double, winning the 60m dash in 8.25 seconds.
Chesson Liburd also achieved a double, capturing the 150m in 17.46 ahead of Royden Peets (17.61), and the 60m in 7.15, edging out Aldrett Nisbett (7.30).
In the senior division, Shenel Crooke continued her dominance, claiming both the 150m (19.70) and 60m (8.22) titles.
The Male 17+ 600m provided one of the most exciting finishes of the day, with Kaiem Liburd narrowly defeating Tyrese Williams, 1:31.93 to 1:31.96.
The meet featured several non-traditional track events, including kids’ hurdles, adding a fun and developmental element to the day’s competition.
