Basseterre, St Kitts, May 24, 2020 – An endorsement for the NextGen SKN candidate for St Christopher 1 (East Basseterre), Dr Geoffrey Hanley from the legendary Elston ‘Elli Matt’ Nero.

The musical maestro said it is time to “feel the weight and footprint of our ‘big friends Labour Party returnees’ if we hope to wrestle power from this nepotistic, want all, power maddening, Unity PLP destruction.”

Welcoming Dwyer Astaphan, Sam Condor and Douglas Wattley, the accomplished musical arranger, composer, bandleader and calypsonian expressed the view that “Labour is our hope to save the country from the grab, grab, sell out, government.”

Born in Newtown like Hanley, Elston “Elli Matt” Nero attended the Newtown (Pasture) School, the Basseterre Boys School and received his high school education at The St. Kitts-Nevis Grammar School.

He started music at a very early age when he was introduced to steel pan, by his eldest brother Joseph (boy blue) Esdaille. He was tutored in guitar by “The Bertie Brothers” and “Sammy Watts”; and is a self-taught keyboardist and Bass guitarist. He has travelled throughout the entire Caribbean, North America, Europe and Japan.

Dr. Geoffrey Hanley is a household name within the community of East Basseterre, and homes across the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as a result of his deep involvement in non-profit organizations, charities, community projects, and youth work.

Geoffrey’s life has been one that is committed to the advancement of people.

Raised in the vibrant community of Newtown, Geoffrey has always been a dynamic, free-spirited and selfless individual who was always involved in any project, group or organization that worked to advance and uplift people.

He currently holds various academic degrees including Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Science in Education, Master in Organizational and Political Psychology and Ph.D. in Leadership and Executive Management.

His passion led him to create platforms for service and outreach which include several youth and community groups such as the St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association.

Geoffrey has served as Director of Youth for many years and initiated and implemented many programmes in the Ministry of Youth which include yearly summer camps, the PEP Programme, the 25 Most Remarkable Teens, Cycle To Success, and many more.

His passion for youth development and the advancement of Kittitians and Nevisians guided him to take the bold step to answer the call of the people to be the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party candidate for Constituency No. 1. Dr. Hanley takes the place of Dr. Earl Asim Martin who served in Parliament for 22 years.

Geoffrey’s life of volunteerism, humanitarianism, and development through politics is owed to his beliefs in that which is a possibility. To him, anyone can be the very best that they can be with support, assistance, and opportunity. He believes in good governance, youth empowerment and excellent service to the elderly and the entire community. He has dedicated his entire career as an agent of positive.

He envisions bridging the gap between poverty and wealth to better the lives of those left out of prosperity and progress.

Through transparency, fairness, and justice for all, Geoffrey wants to end cronyism and nepotism, and empower a wider cross-section of people in Constituency No. 1.

Geoffrey has committed his life to serving people, and is guided by the mantra ‘I Am With You’.

He wants to make a contribution to national development by providing more affordable land and modernized homes for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Geoffrey is also committed to continuing his fight for better schools, better education, and clean and safe drinking water.

Geoffrey will make available real opportunities to empower his constituents and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
