(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Nevis’ biggest event, the Gulf Insurance Inter Primary School Championship is scheduled to be held tomorrow Wednesday, April 1, 2014 at the E.T. Willet Park. Tomorrow has been declared as a public half-holiday on the island of Nevis from 12:00 noon.

President of the Nevis Amateur Athletics Association, Mr. Lester Blackett has indicated that all gadgets and equipment are pretty much in place for the hosting of the 33rd annual Gulf Insurance Inter Primary school championship competition.

This event is dubbed the largest event on Nevis; thousands of people usually flock to the E.T. Willet Park to witness the determined athletes in action. Persons travel from the neighboring island of St. Kitts to be a part of this huge event.

The tie from last year’s event between the St. Thomas’ Primary School and the Charlestown Primary School has generated a lot of excitement leading up to this year’s event. ‘Chants’ are in the air, words have been used by the various coaches to intimidate their competitors. This has everyone confident that their school will win in the ‘A’ and ‘B’ divisions.

Coaches from STPS and CPS stated that there won’t  be any tie this year.

Although some persons  attend this event to witness the sports itself, others see this meet as a big ‘lime’ and a ‘fashion’ event. Charlestown has been busy today, as persons are seen shopping and preparing themselves for tomorrow’s big event.

When it comes to Inter Primary there are ‘no rules’ when it comes to fashion. Some persons would dress in heels even boots in order to make a ‘fashion statement’. Eyes are usually glued to the gate to the park as if the entrance is transformed to a red carpet event. Nonetheless, whatever one may think of a person’s dress code, it is fashion to them.

The big event will commence at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, under the distinguished patronage of former champion athlete, Ms. Kasheba Daniel. The first race is set to start at 12:00 noon.

Nevispages is wishing all the schools well. May the best team win.
