NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (October 02, 2018) — Mrs. Palsy Wilkin, an educator who has served in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) in various capacities in the education sector for the past 44 years, is being hailed by Hon. Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis and Minister of Education for her long service and contribution to development of Nevis.
The premier’s commendation came while delivering remarks at his monthly press conference at the Cabinet Room at Pinney’s Estate on October 02, 2018.
“She served for 12 years as an Education Officer and then for five years as a Principal Education Officer. Long after she should have been retired and relaxing we called on her and she came and she gave of her service and we have to congratulate and thank her.
“There are no words really that I can express to demonstrate the depth of gratitude for her contribution to education for 44 years and I want the island to applaud Mrs. Palsy Wilkin for her considerable effort in this regard,” he said.
Mr. Brantley noted that even after her recent retirement from the public service, Mrs. Wilkin has been called upon to assist and has willingly indicated that she is minded to do so.
He said he believes education is in her blood, and is her life-long calling , the reason she continues to be assist in education. He expressed gratitude for her service and hopes others would use it as an example to follow.
“I really want to go on record to express our deep gratitude to Mrs Wilkin for her service and to say that she ought to be an example to all of us as to what public service should look like, and what we hope at the end of our own careers, others will say of us that we served long, we served well, and we contributed to the development of our country,” he said.
