The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) advises the general public that the “Baccanal District” event, previously scheduled to be held on Bank Street by the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Committee, has been cancelled.
This decision follows recent incidents of violence that disrupted Last Lap activities on the night of January 2, 2026. The safety and security of all citizens, residents, and visitors remain the foremost priority of the Police Force and event organisers. Accordingly, the cancellation is a precautionary measure to safeguard public order and protect lives.
Carnival is a time for celebration, unity, and cultural expression; however, these values cannot come at the expense of public safety. The RSCNPF continues to collaborate closely with event organisers and key stakeholders to ensure that all remaining activities are conducted safely and responsibly.
The Police Force urges everyone to act responsibly, comply with the law, and support efforts to maintain peace and security as the Carnival season concludes.
The RSCNPF thanks the public for its understanding, patience, and continued cooperation.
