Thirty-five police officers drawn from member states of the Regional Security System (RSS) are currently in the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis to augment local security operations in support of the 50th Session of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government Conference.
The visiting officers were formally administered the Oath of Office as Special Constables by Commissioner of Police, Mr. James Sutton.
By virtue of this oath, the officers are vested with full police powers to operate within the Federation and are afforded all immunities, protections, and legal authority granted to police officers under the Police Act of St. Kitts and Nevis. This legal framework ensures seamless operational integration and effective cooperation with local security agencies throughout the duration of the conference.
In brief remarks at the swearing-in ceremony, Commissioner Sutton warmly welcomed the RSS contingent to the Federation and expressed appreciation for their continued commitment to regional security and collective responsibility. He underscored the importance of regional solidarity in safeguarding high-level international engagements and conveyed best wishes to the officers during their tour of duty in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Members of the Police High Command who were in attendance also extended words of welcome and gratitude to the visiting officers, reaffirming the strong partnerships that exist among RSS member states.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force remains confident that the combined efforts of local and regional security personnel will ensure the safe, secure, and successful hosting of the historic 50th CARICOM Heads of Government Conference.
