Basseterre, St Kitts, April 14, 2020 – St Kitts and Nevis reported two new COVID-19 cases late Tuesday afternoon, bringing the number in the federation to 14.
“The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis received the results of twelve (12) tests that would have been sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). Of the twelve tests, ten (10) are negative and two (2) were positive. These persons who tested positive were already in quarantine and will remain in isolation,” said Phipps.
She said the two positive cases reside on St Kitts, but did not state their gender.
“One was a close contact of a positive case and was already in quarantine. The second, however, is a family member of a suspected case already in quarantine. These two positive cases represent a local spread of the virus within that household,” said Phipps.
She said to date 224 persons have been tested with 14 positive results – 10 on St Kitts and 4 on Nevis.
“187 confirmed negatives have been received with 33 results pending. Twenty-nine (29) persons are in quarantine in a government facility while 111 are quarantined at home. To date 552 persons have been released from quarantine,” Phipps disclosed.
