CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — A three‑week netball camp for young girls officially began on Monday, July 13, at the Grell Hull‑Stevens Complex.

According to Sports Officer Ms Sharlene Martin, participants will receive instruction in all fundamental skills of the game, including passing, shooting, footwork, and game strategy.

Leading the training sessions are highly experienced coaches: former West Indies national team captain Lydia Thompson‑Claxton and Nevis’ former standout goal shooter Rhonda Thompson, supported by officers from the Department of Sports.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms Keesha Jones, Branch Manager of the St. Kitts‑Nevis and Anguilla National Bank — Nevis Branch, encouraged the young athletes to make the most of the opportunity. “Learn as much as you can, work hard, and aim to reach the same high standards set by mentors like Mrs Thompson-Claxton,” she said.

As a gesture of support, Ms Keesha Jones presented each participant with a water bottle, donated by the bank.

Following the short opening ceremony, the girls moved directly onto the court to begin their first set of training drills.
