The United Kingdom will be sending four police officers to Anguilla to boost manpower and “provide specific technical expertise” in the island’s crime fight.

In a statement, Governor Julia Crouch said the officers would be deployed for at least four months.

Crouch and Commissioner of Police Robert Clark mentioned the deployment of more UK police officers at a media conference on October 8 following the murder of 14-year-old Shaquan Richardson.

Richardson and another teen boy were shot by a gunman at James Ronald Webster Park.

Crouch noted three of the officers would be deployed “to enhance capability and capacity, including on current investigations”.

The fourth officer will support the Royal Anguilla Police Force with technical analysis.

The officers are expected to arrive in Anguilla by October 31.
