BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS,  – After three competitive T20 Internationals in St. Vincent, West Indies Women now turn their attention to the ODI format as they prepare to close out the series against Australia Women at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

“The Maroon Warriors went toe-to-toe with the world’s top-ranked side at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground in a series that showcased both resilience and emerging promise,” West Indies Cricket said in a statement.

The ODI series presents a fresh opportunity for the West Indies to apply lessons learned, build longer innings, and refine their execution against a dominant Australian unit.

Fans in St. Kitts are being encouraged to come out in their numbers, with free admission to all matches. Supporters across the region can also follow the series live on ESPN’s Disney+ platform.

While Australia’s experience proved decisive in securing a 3-0 T20 series victory, West Indies produced several phases of play that highlighted their growth and intent in a crucial year of white-ball cricket.

Captain Hayley Matthews once again led from the front with contributions in both batting and bowling, including a hard-fought half-century in the second T20. Deandra Dottin delivered impactful performances, reaffirming her match-winning pedigree, while veteran Stafanie Taylor added stability to the batting lineup.

Opener Qiana Joseph was among the notable movers in the ICC Women’s T20 Batting Rankings, climbing 14 places to 33rd, while Taylor moved up two spots to 48th.

There are three changes to the squad for the upcoming ODIs, with Realeanna Grimmond, Ashmini Munisar, and Shunelle Sawh replacing Eboni Brathwaite, Zaida James, and Mandy Mangru.

Head coach Shane Deitz expressed confidence ahead of the series:
“It’s great to be back in St. Kitts for this ODI series against Australia. We had a wonderful series against Bangladesh here at the start of 2025 and have fond memories of this ground. Australia is the number one ranked ODI team and will present a strong challenge, but this is an important opportunity for us to continue building as we work toward World Cup qualification.”

Reflecting on the T20 series, Deitz highlighted encouraging signs:
“The results didn’t go our way, but there were strong performances, particularly from our younger players. Jahzara Claxton showed she is capable at the international level, while experienced players like Afy Fletcher and Deandra Dottin made important contributions. We’ve shown fight, but we now need to execute consistently for longer periods.”
