The 2026 Runako Morton/TDC Primary Schools Cricket Tournament got off to an exciting start on Monday, June 22, with two entertaining matches that showcased the talent and promise of Nevis’ young cricketers.
Defending Champions Make Strong Statement
Defending champions Ivor Walters Primary School began their title defence in commanding fashion, defeating St. Thomas’ Primary School by 76 runs.
Batting first, Ivor Walters Primary posted a competitive 108 for 4 from their allotted 15 overs, with Devaundre Hendrickson leading the charge with an impressive 38 runs. Saddler, Isles, Dickenson, and Rawlins each claimed one wicket for St. Thomas’ Primary.
In reply, St. Thomas’ Primary struggled against a disciplined bowling attack and were dismissed for just 32 runs. Josiah Daniel top-scored with 6 runs, while Kaden Williams and Dwight Needham starred with the ball, taking three wickets apiece to secure a convincing victory for the defending champions.

Zakeem Bailey Smashes Unbeaten Century
The standout performance of the day came in the second match, where Charlestown Primary School produced a dominant display to defeat the VOJN Primary School team.
The star of the match was Zakeem Bailey, who delivered a magnificent unbeaten century, blasting 118 not out to propel Charlestown Primary to an imposing total of 188 for 1. His innings was a masterclass in batting and set the tone for his team’s commanding performance. Moses Shaw was the lone wicket-taker for VOJN, finishing with figures of 1 for 37.
VOJN responded positively, with Jaden Hanley scoring 47 and Ellis contributing 16, but they fell well short of the target, ending on 108 for 3. Ishan Bhim led the bowling effort for Charlestown Primary with figures of 2 for 12.
