SLAY Girls Build Skills, Confidence, and Sisterhood Through Fun Activities

Members of Sisters Leading Ambitious Youths spent an enjoyable and productive weekend sharpening their culinary and creative talents during a cupcake-baking session filled with learning, laughter, and teamwork.

The girls experimented with a variety of flavours while baking delicious cupcakes, including chocolate chip, confetti, chocolate swirl, and marble. The activity not only allowed them to develop new baking skills but also encouraged creativity and collaboration among the participants.

One of the highlights of the session was the strong sense of teamwork between mentors and mentees, as well as among the girls themselves. In just over a year, the group has grown into a supportive and empowering community, with members showing remarkable growth and tremendous untapped potential. Organisers joked that the session may well have inspired a few future pastry chefs.

The SLAY programme holds sessions twice each month, offering young participants meaningful and engaging experiences designed to promote personal growth, leadership, and community service.

Over the past year, the girls have taken part in a variety of activities, including visiting and assisting residents at the St. George and St. John Senior Citizens Home, participating in creative “Paint and Sip” sessions, worshipping together for Women’s History Month at the Charlestown Wesleyan Holiness Church, and taking part in a Vision Board workshop aimed at helping them set goals and envision their future.

Special recognition was also given to the programme’s dedicated mentors, whose care, guidance, and unwavering support continue to play a vital role in shaping the girls’ development. Their commitment to nurturing confidence, leadership, and ambition among the participants has been widely praised.

Those involved with the initiative say it is both inspiring and rewarding to witness the steady growth of the young women in the programme. For members of the advisory board, it remains a privilege to support and guide the work of SLAY as it continues empowering the next generation of young leaders.
