Cricket : All Stars Take Care of Highlights in NCA 40-Overs Action

The Nevis Cricket Association 40-overs tournament continued on Sunday, February 22, with matches at both VOJN Grounds and Elquemedo Willett Park delivering competitive action — and a moment of unexpected drama.

Brown Hill Cruise Past Empire

At VOJN Grounds, Brown Hill secured a convincing eight-wicket victory over Empire.

Empire were bowled out for 142, with Jevon Manners top-scoring with 59. Ajari Cornelius was the standout with the ball, claiming four wickets to keep the total within reach.

In reply, Brown Hill made light work of the chase, reaching 146 for 2. Shelton Forbes struck a solid 55, while Rajani Didder anchored the innings with an unbeaten 54 to guide his team comfortably over the line.

All Stars Defeat Highlights

Meanwhile, at ET Willet Park, All Stars delivered a strong all-round performance to defeat Highlights by 64 runs.

Batting first, All Stars posted 188 for 9 in their 40 overs. Brothers Sharma and Hero both contributed 31 runs apiece to build a competitive total.

Highlights, in response, were bowled out for 124. Adrian Williams led the effort with 34, but regular wickets stalled the chase. Pemberton and Sharma each claimed three wickets to seal the victory for All Stars.

A Six and a Shattered Windscreen

The match also featured a strange and much-debated incident. Adrian Williams launched a delivery from Jaden Carmichael high and over the boundary ropes — only for the ball to crash into the windscreen of a pickup truck owned by ardent cricket supporter Mr. Clinton Swanston.

The shattered glass quickly became the talk of the ground, sparking lively debate among spectators about who should be responsible for the damage — the batsman, the bowler, the Nevis Cricket Association, or the vehicle owner.

While the cricket provided plenty of excitement, it was this unusual off-field moment that left fans talking long after the final ball was bowled.
