Former Cricket President Disagrees With Grading Of Players

By: Curtis Morton

Outspoken former Nevis Cricket Association President, Mr. Keith Scarborough, on Tuesday strongly condemned the notion of grading players on the island.

During his tenure as cricket chief on the island, Scarborough was almost single handedly responsible for abandoning the idea of grading players for the second division competition.

The idea did not sit well with certain players and teams and some of them openly rebelled against it.
Now new president Denrick Liburd and his executive body, have unanimously decided to reinstate the grading system for second division for the upcoming season.

‘Why grade the players when we can’t even get a single one of them into the Leeward Islands team?’ asked Scarborough.

He also maintained the stance he has taken all year:

‘Pay special emphasis on the younger cricketers: under 13’s; under 15’s and under 19’s,’ he said.

‘They are the future of Nevis cricket,’ he opined.
