Major Progress Recorded on New 500,000-Gallon Water Storage Tank at Stoney Hill

CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — Significant progress is being made on the construction and erection of the new 500,000-gallon water storage tank at the Stoney Hill Water Storage Site, marking another important milestone in the Nevis Island Administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the island’s water infrastructure.

The new tank will replace the ageing 270,000-gallon fibreglass tank currently in operation and is expected to greatly improve water storage capacity, reliability, and long-term water security for residents and businesses.

Minister responsible for Public Utilities, Hon. Spencer R. Brand, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the ongoing work and commended all stakeholders involved in the project.

“I am delighted with the significant progress achieved on the erection work for our new 500,000-gallon water tank at the Stoney Hill water storage site,” Minister Brand stated. “The teamwork, precision, and adherence to safety standards displayed throughout this project have been commendable.”

He noted that the development represents a critical investment in the island’s infrastructure and reflects the Nevis Island Administration’s commitment to delivering high-quality projects in a timely and efficient manner.

“This milestone strengthens water security for the community and demonstrates the NIA’s commitment to reliable infrastructure development for the people of Nevis,” he added.

Minister Brand also extended gratitude to Precision Construction, the Nevis Water Department, and the Integrated Water Resources Management Department for their collaborative efforts in advancing the project.

The Stoney Hill upgrade forms part of broader initiatives aimed at improving water storage, distribution, and resilience across the island.
