BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, April 4, 2026 — The St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association (SKNSA) continues to make strong strides in developing competitive sailing in the Federation, as three national sailors from the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center have departed for Nassau to participate in the 2026 Bahamas ILCA Open Nationals and a pre-event High Performance Sailing Clinic.
The young sailors left the Federation on Thursday, April 2, to represent Saint Kitts and Nevis at the international event.
Representing SKN:
Abhijith Srinivasan — ILCA 6
Melroy Henry — ILCA 7
Amadi Byron-Hendrickson — ILCA 7
The team will first take part in the High Performance Sailing Clinic from April 4–10, an intensive training programme designed to help sailors sharpen their technical skills, improve race strategy, and gain valuable experience competing alongside sailors from across the region. The clinic will be led by internationally recognised sailing coach Eduardo Marques.
Following the training camp, the athletes will compete in the Bahamas ILCA Open Nationals, scheduled for April 11–12 in Nassau. The regatta will feature competition in the ILCA 7, ILCA 6, and ILCA 4 classes and is expected to attract a strong regional fleet.
The opportunity forms part of the Federation’s broader athlete development pathway, as the sailors continue preparing for upcoming international events, including the Youth Sailing World Championships and the Central American and Caribbean Games.
In recent years, the St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association has been expanding opportunities for youth and high-performance sailors through international competition, structured training programmes, and regional collaboration. The participation of these athletes in the Bahamas represents another important step forward for sailing in the Federation.
The Association hopes that continued progress in the sport will encourage greater support from the national sporting community, private sector partners, and organisations committed to youth development and Olympic sport in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association, along with its President, Nicholas Dupre, wishes the team fair winds and great success as they proudly represent the nation in the Bahamas.
