HARDTIMES, GINGERLAND, NEVIS — The Trevier Smithen, in collaboration with A-1 Farms Nevis 7-A-Side Hit-and-Run Tape-Ball Cricket Tournament, made an exciting return on Sunday, May 10, following a two-week break.

Despite threatening weather conditions that nearly extended the hiatus, the combined efforts of groundsmen, players, and spectators ensured that fans were treated to a full slate of thrilling matches at the Hardtimes Playfield. The recently installed floodlights also added a historic and exciting dimension to the tournament, allowing patrons to enjoy competitive cricket well into the evening.

Hawks Defeat Mustangs in Round 4 Opener

In the opening match of Round 4, Challenger’s Construction Pond Hill Hawks defeated Duncan’s Heavy Equipment Rentals Chickenstone Mustangs in commanding fashion.

Batting first under difficult wet conditions, the Mustangs posted 79 for 3 in 7 overs. Captain Sachin Seenarine top-scored with 35, while Aaron Balkrisson added 12. For the Hawks, Azeem Bickarmajeet and Alvin Cyril each claimed a wicket.

The Hawks responded emphatically, racing to 82 without loss in just 3.3 overs. Captain Adelvin Phillip delivered a match-winning unbeaten 32 and earned Man of the Match honours, finishing the game in spectacular style with three consecutive sixes.

Bamboos Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

Precision Steel Works Old Manor Bamboos kept their playoff ambitions alive with a convincing 39-run victory over Clive Evelyn Construction Hanley’s Road Mad Dawgs.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Bamboos posted 119 for 4 in their allotted overs. Captain Tyger Browne led the innings with 38, while Delroy Cornelius contributed 19 and Rohan Laborde added 16.

In reply, the Mad Dawgs were restricted to 80 all out in 6.3 overs despite a fighting 36 from captain Shurandy Merchant.

Rohan Laborde starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 24 runs to secure Man of the Match honours.

Bulls Shine in First Official Match Under Floodlights

History was created as the clash between Nevis Auto Rental, Clay Ghaut Pelicans and Starlight Promotions Hardtimes Bulls became the first official match played under the newly installed floodlights at the Hardtimes Playfield.

The Pelicans posted 92 for 2 from their 7 overs, with captain Nelson Boland scoring 39 not out and Adrian Williams contributing 15 not out.

The Bulls successfully chased the target, reaching 95 for 3 in 5.5 overs. Abdul Olaniran led the charge with an unbeaten 27, while Reon Solomon contributed an all-round performance with 12 runs and bowling figures of 1 for 16 to earn Man of the Match recognition.

A memorable moment came when young Kelron Liburd Jr. completed the first catch under lights at the venue.

Aristocrats Cruise Past Volcanoes

In the final match of the evening, 6J’s Car Rental River Path Aristocrats secured a comfortable 44-run victory over Norhtek Networking Limited Rawlins Volcanoes.

The Aristocrats posted 112 for 3 in 7 overs, anchored by an impressive 41 from Rajesh Ayanh. Valuable contributions also came from Curtis Morton Jr., Curtis Dore, and young Te’Jahni Daniel.

The Volcanoes struggled in reply and finished on 68 for 2 from their allotted overs. Ayanh capped off a superb all-round performance with economical bowling figures of 1 for 6, while Te’Jahni Daniel also chipped in with a wicket.
