Basseterre, Saint Kitts (SKNIS): The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis today, April 29, 2026, marked a significant milestone in education and youth development with the official dedication of the ELEVATE Centre as a Certified CSEC (Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate) Examination Centre. The ceremony, held at the ELEVATE office, underscores the Federation’s continued commitment to second chances, inclusive education, and national transformation.
Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, the Honourable Geoffrey Hanley, described the initiative as a defining moment in the nation’s educational journey.
“This is historic because Elevate is more than a programme; it is a beacon of second chances, a place where our youth are allowed to rewrite their stories and reclaim their future,” Deputy Prime Minister Hanley stated. “This centre represents true rehabilitation. It is not only about academics, but about restoring dignity, hope, and purpose.”
Dr. Hanley reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that education remains accessible and transformative, particularly for those most in need. He emphasised that the programme, which offers individuals a second opportunity to obtain key CSEC subjects free of cost, has evolved into “a model of resilience and opportunity,” and encouraged greater participation.
Highlighting the expansion of the initiative, Dr. Hanley also announced that examination opportunities will be extended to Nevis, further broadening access across the Federation. He noted that tutors within the programme are also contributing to national development by supporting teachers and civil servants in attaining required qualifications, calling this development “historic.”
