BASSETERRE — The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) has completed the installation of a new Voice Communication Control System (VCCS) at the control tower of the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, marking a significant advancement in air traffic communication and operational capability.
Aeronav technician Andre Dion installed the system and introduced upgraded communication functionality designed to support clearer and more efficient coordination between air traffic controllers and aircraft movements.
Airport Manager Don Grant noted that the installation is significant for both the Air Traffic Control Department and SCASPA as a whole, reinforcing the Authority’s commitment to maintaining high operational standards and supporting the safe management of the nation’s airspace.
Maintenance Manager Nigel Webbe also welcomed the upgrade, expressing appreciation for the introduction of advanced systems that enhance the reliability and performance of tower operations.
Also present for the installation were Chief Operations Officer Calvin Duggins, Senior Air Traffic Controller Kurt Louard and ECCAA technician Charlie Gumbs, all of whom observed the implementation of the new system.
The installation of the VCCS forms part of SCASPA’s ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and strengthen operational efficiency across its aviation facilities.
